Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter. ~Carol Bishop Hipps
In Your Face!
I wonder, if I didn’t work with horses would I still love taking their pictures? I get to know them so well, being the one that provides their daily care and when I go out into their fields with my camera I can plan my shot to really let their personality show through. Although most of the time, I find that there is no planning that goes into my photographing horses. I just take my camera and go and my natural actions around each horse, working with each of their differences/fears/curiosities/whatever, each one of them is exactly what they seem to be in the picture. Take Mikey here, for example. Mikey is an Alpha boy. He’s pretty and he knows it and makes sure everybody else knows it too. If you disagree, well you better get out of his way, haha.
The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and fire. ~Sharon Ralls Lemon
At the end of the day, we all have to be true to ourselves. Whether it’s a gay gossip writer who favors same-sex marriage or a heterosexual woman who is against same-sex marriage. The day we condemn folks for speaking honestly is the day we become a bland society.
Maybe we’re already there.
